    Position summary

    cells, upstream and midstream oil and gas.

    The position will provide and implement formal service planning and direct initiatives to assure the delivery of exceptional energy specific risk engineering services.

    The position will be remote/virtual with required onsite travel to client locations and jobsites.

    Risk Engineering (RE) Consultation:

    • Provide RE consultation as the foundation of a comprehensive service plan to identify risks or exposures and recommend exposure reduction activities through Best Practices and established Risk Engineering solutions and partnership with the policyholder, agent, and broker.

    • Conduct Energy client onsite and virtual survey and service assessments to identify potential risks or exposures and develop an appropriate risk reduction strategy.

    • Conduct observations and report on any additional services, such as Industrial Hygiene, Transportation, Ergonomics, at policyholder locations making recommendations as appropriate.

    • Report critical Risk Alerts to the Energy Managing Director in a timely manner.

    • Take the lead in creating Risk Engineering Service Plans that will provide value to the policyholder and elevate the reputation of The Hartford Risk Engineering services with the client.

    • Review all claims and losses prior to visiting clients and provide appropriate information sharing or trending based on the specific situation(s).

    • Develop and/or enhance client expertise and knowledge related to overall safety and health of their employees and their company.

    • Identify and evaluate potential 3rd party sources for inspection, testing and maintenance of equipment and systems including certification, thermal imaging, and other appropriate evaluation services

    • Summarize Risk Engineering servicing or consultation through written documentation.

    • Complete Risk Engineering Letters for the external customer and Technical Reports for internal business partners that summarize the services provided, including purpose of visit, assessment results, and reasonable, appropriate recommendations.

    • Identify and Develop Risk Engineering Success Stories that illustrate results, supported by risk or exposure identification, cost/benefit presentations, and any risk or exposure reductions or elimination.

    • Maintain a strong professional relationship w/brokers and communicate effectively on shared business.

    • Participate in industry association discussions, meetings, training, webinars, etc., such as NREL, NABCEP, IRMI

    Consultative Selling Skills:

    Must have a high degree of skill and confidence when working with insured accounts using a business consultative approach. Based on their knowledge of the insured's business activities and needs they are able to move the account in a direction that eliminates exposures and/or controls the potential for future financial loss. Insurance Lines of Business: Must attain and maintain good working knowledge of the various lines of insurance coverage and how they apply to an insured's business exposures.

    Qualifications:

    • A BA/BS degree is required with coursework focused on Occupational Safety and Health Studies, Fire Sciences, Pure Sciences, Engineering or related subjects is preferred.

    • Preferred to have and maintain a professional certification/designation in a safety related field (i.e.) CSP, CIH, CPCU, ARM, MBA, ERIS, etc.

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $113,600 - $170,400
