    Position summary

    ork of distribution partners. The Executive Underwriting Team Lead will report to the Head of Business, Programs and will be part of the national Middle and Large Programs Practice Leadership.

    Responsibilities:

    Sales and Marketing

    • Assist in the development and maintenance of the UW/RO Programs pipeline

    • Assist and contribute to the national Programs strategic framework, direction and implementation.

    • Foster relationships with other divisions to collaborate and cross-sell.

    • Assess market opportunities and generate ideas to drive new business.

    • Develop and implement underwriting standards, strategies, and product suites.

    • Underwrite Programs business and serve as a referral resource for other underwriters.

    • Organize and manage all new business triage exercises and appropriate pre-renewal strategy session on existing business.

    • Handle referrals and provide direction on complex exposures.

    • Quality control and file documentation

    • Provide and extract Programs subject matter expertise to/from our business partners

    • Apply underwriting guidelines and have thorough knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

    Distribution Management and Partnership

    • Manage and develop producer and client relationships.

    • Engage, conduct and provide coordinated and formalized training and development to Programs underwriters.

    • Consistently engage with producers, underwriters and clients to appropriately augment and market The Hartford brand and solicit market, industry and competitive intelligence.

    • Conduct regular business stewardship meetings with all key internal and external business constituents and stakeholders.

    Leadership and Talent retention and Development

    • Manage underwriting resources across the division and ensure clear alignment with partner organizations and appropriate resource allocation.

    • Foster a high-performance culture and pipeline new talent.

    • "Own" the results and embody the Hartford culture and mission statement

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 5 years of related industry experience including at least 3+ years of P&C Commercial underwriting experience which is required; Programs underwriting experience preferred.

    • Exceptional technical underwriting acumen and analytical skills.

    • Expertise in marketing and evaluating complex multi-line Programs risks.

    • Demonstrative and proven expertise in the positioning, presentation, negotiation and closing of Programs proposals.

    • Prior people mentorship and/or management experience strongly preferred; demonstrated potential for leadership and management responsibilities with the ability and interest in developing other sales and underwriting talent through mentoring or coaching.

    • Inspiring presentation and marketing skills.

    • Thorough attention to detail and strong underwriting documentation.

    • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a matrixed environment.

    • Ability and willingness to travel ~25% of the time.

    Location:

    This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in the Charlotte, NC; Hartford, CT; San Antonio, TX; Clinton, NY; or King of Prussia, PA office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $132,000 - $198,000
