Responsibilities:
Drive the exploration and adoption of new and advanced technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance Hartford Fund's competitive advantage in the investment management industry
Drive innovation ideas and propose a forward-looking advanced technology and analytics (AI/ML, tokenization, blockchain) roadmap that enables the firm's key initiatives and long-term strategy
Collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders to understand business challenges & identify opportunities for AI/ML-driven solutions
Identify AI capabilities embedded within third-party technologies current used that can be leverage for business value
Lead a small team including direct reports in conjunction with a broader collaboration across the IT department to design, test, tune, and deploy machine learning that turns data into actionable insights and/or automation solutions
Own and maintain a comprehensive catalog of solution patterns for various AI use cases, ensuring patterns are clearly documented and effectively utilized by the team to drive innovation consistently and efficiently
Communicate and educate leadership on advanced analytics and emerging technology concepts and the art of the possibility
Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership and our board on the progress and impact of advance analytics and emerging technology solutions
Partner with our parent company, The Hartford, to leverage their emerging technologies and data science tools and capabilities
Serve as a thought leader within Hartford Funds and the broader investment community, representing the firm at industry conferences to stay informed on the latest technology developments and best practices, and build relationships with potential partners and clients
Qualifications:
Degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Technology, or related field is required; a Master's degree or PH. D preferred
5+ years of related IT, Machine Learning or Data Scientist role, with experience in the financial services sector a plus
Strong knowledge of machine learning techniques & statistical concepts
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop insights that drive investment decisions and product innovation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans that align with organizational goals and drive business growth
In-depth understanding of the investment management industry, including current trends, challenges, and opportunities, with a focus on the evolving role of data in investment decision-making
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$175,000 - $225,000
