    Position summary

    l focus on developing a strategy and corresponding business roadmap to position the EB segment for meaningful growth over the next 3 to 5 years. This dual-function leader is responsible for setting the long-term vision and competitive positioning of the company, while also translating that vision into compelling narratives, campaigns, and customer experiences. The Head of Strategy & Growth will balance analytical rigor with creative insight-leveraging market data to inform strategic decisions, and aligning brand messaging with business goals, ensuring that every strategic initiative is market-relevant and that every marketing effort drives measurable strategic value: profitable growth, enhanced customer experience, and strengthened competitive position in the marketplace. The Head of Strategy & Growth will oversee strategic planning, integrated marketing, and customer insights, while partnering closely with Product, Sales & Relationship Management, Operations, Claims, and Technology teams to align business priorities and deliver measurable outcomes and will work closely with business partners to support an aggressive invest agenda. The Head of Strategy and Growth will be based in our Hartford, CT, Home office; regional candidates may also be considered.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Leadership

    • Lead the development and execution of the Employee Benefits strategic roadmap, aligning with enterprise goals and market dynamics to enable profitable growth

    • Partner with executive leadership to identify growth opportunities, assess competitive positioning, and drive innovation across the value chain

    • Translate strategic imperatives (e.g., Claims, Operations, External Connections, Customer Experience, Product & Underwriting innovation) into actionable marketing and communication plans

    Marketing & Brand Management

    • Oversee all aspects of marketing strategy, including brand development, digital marketing, content strategy, and tech-first campaign execution

    • Ensure consistent brand messaging across all channels and customer touchpoints, reinforcing The Hartford's value proposition in the employer and broker markets

    • Lead market segmentation and persona development to tailor messaging and offerings to key audiences

    Customer & Market Insights

    • Build and lead a high-performing insights function to gather and synthesize customer, broker, and market intelligence

    • Leverage data to inform product development, distribution strategies, and service enhancements

    • Monitor industry trends, regulatory shifts, and emerging technologies to anticipate market needs

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Collaborate with Product, Sales & Distribution, Operations, Claims, Technology, and enterprise Marketing and Communication to ensure alignment of marketing and strategic initiatives

    • Partner with head of enterprise strategy to support alignment and drive synergies across all lines of business

    • Support transformation efforts such as the Sales Support Model and digital servicing enhancements

    • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders on positioning, messaging, and change management communications

    Qualifications

    • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in strategy, or business development within financial services, some insurance industry experience required. Proven track record of leading enterprise-level strategic growth initiatives required

    • Strong analytical and storytelling skills; ability to translate complex data into compelling narratives

    • Experience managing cross-functional teams and influencing and engaging at the executive level

    • Deep understanding of the employee benefits landscape, including employer needs, broker dynamics, competitor positioning and regulatory environment

    • Technology savvy; innovation experience, demonstrated strategic thinker, intellectually curious. Experience working in an Agile environment desirable

    • Excels at building, engaging, and developing high-performing teams

    • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree in Marketing, Strategy, or relate

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $236,000 - $354,000
