    Position summary

    t. Candidates who live near one of our core office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assign onsite and/or virtual exposure assessments to staff for identifying potential occupational health exposures and develop an appropriate industrial hygiene air/noise monitoring strategy.

    • Manage IH practice team ensuring monthly production goals and business strategy guidelines are met.

    • Conduct occasional onsite air/noise monitoring surveys co-traveling with IH staff to customer locations.

    • Develop and deliver meaningful IH service presentations, flyers and informational bulletins to customers and prospective customers to identify service opportunities and address emerging issues.

    • Develop effective relationships with National Account Managers, field Risk Engineering Consultants, Claims and Brokers to develop a valuable Industrial Hygiene service plan for customers.

    • Provide IH technical expertise to REO and business partners in a timely manner addressing potential emerging issues.

    • Collaborate continually with the RE IH Laboratory to assist customers with self-sampling and interpretation of laboratory analytical reports.

    • Working with RE Training group, develop and/or enhance client expertise and knowledge related to Industrial Hygiene through virtual and/or onsite basic industrial hygiene skills training.

    • Mentor and support RE staff working to obtain graduate degree in OEHS and CIH designation.

    • Identify continuous improvement opportunities through quality reviews to enhance the Industrial Hygiene Technical Reports in a timely manner for the policyholders and internal business partners.

    • Provide IH consultation, coaching and mentorship to internal business partners including, regional Risk Engineering (RE) field consultants, Innovation, National Account managers, Underwriters and Claims.

    • Collaborate with The Hartford business partners to accurately assess potential occupational environmental health and safety risks.

    • Identify and analyze exposures and develop engineering solutions to mitigate risk through partnership with the policyholder.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from a four-year college or university and 15+ years of Industrial Hygiene consultation in either insurance loss prevention, Industrial Hygiene consulting or general industry is required, with an academic focus on Occupational Safety and Health or Public Health.

    • Master of Science (M.S.) or Master of Arts (M.A.) in Public Heath, Industrial Hygiene or Occupational Health and Safety preferred with at least 10+ years of experience in industrial hygiene or occupational health related field highly preferred.

    • Prior management experience is a plus.

    • Willingness to travel 25% of the time; both local and overnight required.

    • High degree of technical skills with strong consultative skills and ability to deliver results efficiently and effectively in a timely manner.

    • Ability to maintain current knowledge of IH practice methodology and assessment strategies per the AIHA and other OEHS professional organizations.

    • Must have and maintain a Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH) designation in Comprehensive Practice.

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $130,320 - $195,480
