    Position summary

    d Employee Benefits. Challenging performance objectives ensure that the work you do will be valuable to both you and The Hartford. Interns are exposed to a variety of actuarial functions including: personal and commercial insurance pricing, corporate reserving, data science, enterprise risk management, employee benefits, and more. Our calendar of events is structured with fantastic training in R coding, insurance terminology and technologies used by the actuarial department. All interns are able to make active contributions towards supporting our culture. The program also includes a number of unforgettable team building and social events that let you meet and interact with all members of our large actuarial community.

    The Actuarial Internship Program begins in late May 2026. This is a full-time, in-person internship based exclusively at our home office in Hartford, CT. All interns are required to be physically present in Hartford for the duration of the program. To support this, we provide fully furnished corporate housing located near the office.

    Qualifications:

    Must be well-rounded, driven candidates who possess excellent analytical, leadership and communication skills. To be considered for this program, candidates should be pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in a math, economics, finance, and/or science related field. Candidates should have passed at least one actuarial exam.

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
