Key Responsibilities
Strategic Alignment & IT Execution: Support alignment of portfolio initiatives with organizational strategy and business objectives, ensuring IT execution delivers measurable outcomes.
Financial & Investment Management: Plan and monitor portfolio budgets, manage investment funding, and provide transparent financial reporting to enable informed decision-making.
Agile Transformation & Metrics: Facilitate adoption of agile practices across the portfolio; track and interpret key metrics (e.g., backlog health, lead time, throughput) to measure progress and value delivery.
Lean Portfolio Governance: Assist in implementing lean governance principles to prioritize work, manage risk, and optimize resource allocation for maximum business impact.
Workforce Strategy Optimization: Contribute to workforce planning and analysis, ensuring the right skills and capacity are available to support strategic initiatives.
Portfolio Operations: Oversee day-to-day portfolio operations, including planning, monitoring, and coordination, to maintain delivery cadence and operational excellence.
Vendor & Compliance Management: Support vendor contract oversight, invoice reconciliation, and ensure compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Prepare portfolio health reviews, scorecards, and MOR materials; champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Tool Integration & Data Management: Play an integral role in Agile reporting tools integration (e.g., Clarity, Rally) and maintain accurate data for portfolio insights.
Qualifications
1-3 years of IT portfolio management experience
Familiarity with software development processes, including iterative and incremental methodologies.
Proven experience managing financials and understanding IT financial management practices.
Solid understanding of Agile and Scaled Agile frameworks
Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Excel.
Strong ability to influence and build effective partnerships across teams.
Excellent communication skills-written, verbal, and presentation.
Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
1 year of industry experience preferred.
This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
