dle and Large Technology underwriting talent, and assist in managing the network of distribution partners. The Northeast Technology, Managing Director will report to the Head of Business, Technology and will be part of the national Middle and Large Technology Practice Leadership.
Responsibilities:
Underwriting & Portfolio Leadership
Lead divisional underwriting strategy and execution for the Middle and Large Technology book.
Serve as a referral resource and subject matter expert on complex, multi-line technology risks.
Oversee new business triage and pre-renewal strategy sessions.
Ensure underwriting quality, documentation, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Strategic Growth & Market Development
Contribute to the national Technology strategic framework and execution.
Identify market opportunities and develop innovative underwriting solutions.
Collaborate across divisions to cross-sell and expand market presence.
Maintain a robust pipeline and support sales and marketing initiatives.
Distribution & Client Engagement
Manage and grow relationships with key brokers and clients.
Conduct stewardship meetings and represent The Hartford brand externally.
Deliver training and development to underwriters and partners on Technology trends and products.
Leadership & Talent Development
Lead a high-performing team of production underwriters across the region.
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Attract, retain, and develop top underwriting talent.
Align divisional resources with enterprise goals and partner organizations.
Qualifications
Minimum of 15 years of P&C Commercial Underwriting experience is required; 10+ years of Tech Underwriting including E&O carrier underwriting experience preferred.
Expertise in marketing and evaluating complex complex multi-line Technology risks
Exceptional technical underwriting acumen and analytical skills; thorough attention to detail and strong underwriting documentation.
Demonstrative and proven expertise in the positioning, presentation, negotiation and closing of Technology proposals.
Prior people leadership and management experience strongly preferred; effective coaching and mentoring skills required.
Inspiring presentation, storytelling, and executive communication skills with the ability to create concise but powerful content and visuals to influence a range of audiences.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a matrixed environment.
Ability and willingness to travel ~25% of the time.
This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$136,400 - $204,600
