    Position summary

    Job Responsibilities & Competencies

    Analytical Thinking

    • Manipulate and transform large datasets to meet diverse business needs.

    • Analyse and interpret complex, ambiguous data to uncover performance trends and actionable insights.

    • Investigate data patterns through performance metric review, deep analysis, and close collaboration with business partners to identify underlying drivers and extract meaningful trends.

    • Test hypotheses, monitor the impact of initiatives, and provide feedback and recommendations to senior leadership and International strategy teams to drive operational excellence.

    Insight Presentation

    • Communicate technical data and results effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

    • Collaborate with Underwriting, Strategy, and Distribution teams to align insights with business strategy and market dynamics.

    Collaboration

    • Partner with Actuarial colleagues to support understanding of underlying trends.

    • Work with Data & Analytics to understand data structures and drive the development of business intelligence tools and dashboards.

    • Define and refine performance metrics and KPIs.

    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of analytics processes and data quality across the organisation.

    Tools and Metrics Innovation

    • Recommend automation solutions and tools for early detection of emerging data trends.

    • Develop and maintain ownership of advanced monitoring metrics and definitions.

    • Actively explore and implement new analytical tools and techniques to enhance insight generation and decision support.

    Qualifications and Capabilities

    • Strong Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyse complex datasets and extract meaningful insights that inform business decisions.

    • Logical Reasoning: Excellent problem-solving abilities with a structured approach to investigating issues and identifying resolutions.

    • Advanced Excel Proficiency: Skilled in using Microsoft Excel for data manipulation, modelling, and analysis.

    • Influencing: Demonstrated leadership and influencing capabilities in cross-functional environments

    • Innovation: track record of delivering innovative data solutions and a strong passion for driving impactful outcomes.

    • Effective Communication: Ability to clearly communicate analytical findings to non-technical stakeholders and build strong, trust-based partnerships.

    • Team Collaboration: A proactive team player who thrives in collaborative environments but is equally comfortable working autonomously.

    • Business Acumen: Proven ability to understand insurance market dynamics, operational strategies, and business drivers, with a practical and commercially focused approach.

    Experience

    • Data Transformation: Hands-on experience transforming and analysing large insurance-related datasets. London market (including Lloyd's) experience is preferred but not essential.

    • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with programming languages and databases such as SQL, Snowflake, Python, or R.

    • Business Intelligence Tools: Exposure to BI platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools for data visualisation and dashboard development.

    • Insurance Domain Expertise: Understanding of key metrics used in insurance reporting, with exposure to Lloyd's and London market practices will be highly valued.
