Performance Analytics (PA) team supports insights across a range of Global Specialty segments with U.S. and international presence, including Financial Lines, Primary & Excess Casualty, Property, Commercial Auto, Inland & Ocean Marine, Environmental, Bond, Livestock, Energy, and Credit & Political Risk. As a PA, you will support one of these segments in addition to a transformation value stream.
This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
The Ideal Candidate

Demonstrates strong SQL skills and confidence in independently sourcing and transforming data
Has working knowledge of Python
Has experience with visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
Understands or can quickly learn financial and operational performance drivers in specialty insurance
Translates data into clear, compelling stories tailored to both technical and executive audiences
Asks thoughtful questions, builds strong cross - functional partnerships, and contributes to elevating analytics maturity
Is motivated to grow into a value - adding partner to GS Underwriting teams
Responsibilities
Combine and reconcile data from multiple sources, developing a strong understanding of GS data assets, lineage, and quality considerations.
Build trusted working relationships with Underwriting, Product, Actuarial, Claims, and Finance through reliable analysis, open communication, and consistent delivery.
Respond to ad - hoc analytical requests, providing clarity on definitions, methods, and drivers; offer guidance on KPI interpretation and visualization best practices.
Maintain strong, clear documentation of work - effort progress and analysis activities.
Adhere to and promote strong agile practices.
Qualifications
2+ years of SQL project work
1+ years of hands on work with Python for analytical and automation tasks
2+ years' experience with Power BI / Tableau or other visualization software
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Curiosity, creativity, and comfort navigating ambiguity
Strong Excel skills
Understanding of insurance performance concepts (rate, retention, loss trends)
Self - motivated; can work independently and in teams
Openness to learning new tools & domain knowledge
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Business, or a related quantitative field
College - level statistical knowledge
Familiarity with Agile practices (preferred)
Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$78,800 - $118,200
