    Position summary

    onsibilities

    • Monitor market trends, news cycles, peer activity, and new media opportunities to help shape PR strategy

    • Support proactive media relations efforts, including identifying relevant reporters/outlets, maintaining media lists, and drafting and distributing media pitches

    • Maintain media relationships, manage logistics, and help prepare subject matter experts for interviews

    • Draft, edit, and/or proofread PR materials such as press releases, briefing documents, key messages, talking points, and other external communications

    • Monitor for media coverage and support amplification across internal and external channels

    • Manage monthly reporting and maintain tracking systems to ensure operational efficiency

    • Assist with planning and execution of PR campaigns and company announcements

    • Contribute to issues management as needed, including research, monitoring, and material development

    • Support other brand-building and reputation-enhancing initiatives through research, project management, and material development as needed

    • Perform administrative tasks related to PR/marketing operations and team coordination

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field

    • 1-2 years of relevant experience in public relations, communications, media, marketing, or a related field; financial services industry experience a plus

    • Familiarity with media relations concepts and an interest in pitching and reporter engagement

    • Interest in financial markets, investing, personal finance, and/or related topics a plus

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally

    • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, quality, and adherence to compliance standards

    • Media savvy with an understanding of the news cycle

    • Strong time-management skills with the ability to balance multiple deadlines

    • Interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
    $55,000 - $70,000
