    Position summary

    cute quality reviews by reconstructing Group Benefits underwriting cases to validate adherence to compliance and regulatory standards, pricing protocols, underwriting standards, documentation protocols and guidelines.

    • Perform targeted audits on emerging trends, areas of concern or process changes to inform Risk Management practices and guidelines.

    • Complete root cause analysis on quality reviews and audit results by evaluating data for quality trends and opportunities from multiple sources including, but not limited to independently run reports.

    • Deliver meaningful feedback in a respectable manner to Underwriters and or their leaders when reporting Quality results, trends, and recommendations.

    • Support Strategic Reserve by underwriting cases during peak periods; collaborate effectively with business customers (Underwriting & Sales) to meet customer deadlines.

    • Identify learning opportunities based on quality findings: prepare and present training materials when applicable.

    • Lead or participate in strategic initiatives exhibiting thought leadership by providing insightful input and expertise to influence and deliver optimal business outcomes.

    • Function as an Underwriting Subject Matter Expert: stay current with guideline, best practice, tool and system enhancements. Competently articulate enhancements to Underwriters to ensure consistency across the organization when deviations are identified.

    • Effectively coach and mentor Underwriters, provide insightful and comprehensive consultations, tailor conversations based on individual needs to instill expertise among our Underwriting organization.

    • Manage own time and workload efficiently: balance multiple priorities to fulfill all commitments within established timeframes.

    Qualifications:

    • Technical underwriting knowledge, ability to underwrite Group Benefit cases with limited complexity

    • 3+ years of group benefits underwriting experience preferred

    • Must be detail oriented; able to challenge existing norms using logic

    • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written

    • Solid understanding of quality evaluation processes/principles

    • Proven ability to act with integrity and respect (understands nature of work is confidential and will act accordingly)

    • Self-starter with the ability to work across all levels and areas within the organization

    • Contribute to the customer's success by troubleshooting issues, researching and providing recommendations that streamline workflows.

    • Ability to work independently to drive results

    • Ability to multi-task while demonstrating the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively

    • Excellent organizational skills

    • Strong team building and interpersonal skills

    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office

    Salary $65,120 - $100,080

    This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $66,720 - $100,080

    The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
