anager, the reinsurance accountant will be responsible for technical accounting duties including high level review/analysis and processing of assumed reinsurance statements in the Sapiens system. The successful candidate will have strong organization and reconciliation skills and be self-motivated and proactive. This role involves collaborating with both internal and external business partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately perform technical accounting duties such as statement analysis, booking premiums and claims transactions
Prepare cash disbursements according to contract terms
Review and analyze statement submissions ensuring all required supporting documentation has been received
Responsible for the calculation and / or verification of various treaty adjustments, including sliding scale commissions, profit commissions and deposit premium adjustments
Develop strong relationships and work collaboratively with other functional areas (Underwriting, Claims, Finance) and clients to clarify and resolve queries, incorrect data, and missing information to facilitate timely and accurate statement processing
Achieve qualitative and granular understanding of accounts and reported balances
Partner with cash accounting teammates regarding balances due
Take note of any unusual or significant activity in a treaty and communicate to manager and underwriter
Maintain accurate storage of relevant accounting documents
Assist with special projects, system enhancements, testing, and ad-hoc reporting requests
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent work experience
3+ years of accounting, reporting or finance experience
Bilingual Spanish/English strongly desired
Reinsurance accounting experience strongly desired
Proactive individual with well-developed communication skills, analytical and documentation skills, and with high attention to detail
Ability to react and successfully balance multiple competing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment under strict time constraints
Proven track record of taking initiative to research and resolve issues
Strong computer skills and desire to learn new applications with advanced MS Excel knowledge
High level of discipline and ability to work independently and within a team to drive results
Location:
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office in Stamford, CT; Coral Gables, FL; or Chicago, IL at least three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$66,000 - $99,000
