    Position summary

    mfort level with being asked to take the lead position on data research and analysis without clearly defined steps will lead to success in this role.

    As a member of the Performance Analytics team, this position will work closely with Claim's Leadership to create and review monitoring metrics for actionable insights and trends supporting Workers Compensation. This position will also work closely with the Transformation & Optimization Office to create innovative monitoring metrics in support of continuous improvement initiatives. In addition to providing deep analytics, this position is responsible for creating presentations of results and actionable insights for Senior Leadership on a regular cadence. The candidate must be able to effectively communicate technical data and analytic results to a diverse audience. The position will also be a resource to process analysts in need of additional assistance analyzing processes and developing metrics.

    Must have a Worker's Compensation or health insurance background in analytics to be considered.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manipulate and transform large datasets to meet the needs of various business partners

    • Analyze and interpret complex and ambiguous data to identify trends, patterns, and insights, with a focus on medical bill data

    • Develop advanced claim monitoring metrics including ownership of metric definitions

    • Test hypotheses, measure and monitor results, provide feedback, analysis and recommendations to the Transformation & Optimization office as they work through continuous improvement initiatives

    • Partner with Claims Data Office and Data Engineers to develop a suite of operational metrics to monitor progress as the initiatives are launched into production

    • Determine how to demonstrate and quantify the value of the project / investment

    • Compile Monthly Reporting Package, including deep dive analysis into emerging trends and root cause analysis, explaining results and recommendations to Senior Claim Leadership

    • Support Claim strategies to improve operational results and address emerging trends

    • Provide analytical guidance and support to Claims Process Analysts

    • Actively explore new analytical tools and techniques

    Experience & Skills

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field required

    • Analyze and interpret complex and ambiguous data to identify trends, patterns, and insights, with a focus on medical bill data

    • Development of reporting in Tableau or Power BI required

    • Analyzing data in Snowflake and basic SQL code required.

    • Demonstrated strong communication skills and ability to build strong partnerships (essential to success for this role)

    • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, and to set priorities and plans to meet business goals and objectives

    • Ability to lead without having formal authority and to work both independently and in a team environment

    • Direct the analysis of others

    • Documented track record of creating innovative data solutions; passion for delivering outcomes

    • Workers Comp claim experience is preferred

    This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $92,800 - $139,200
