    Position summary

    s' Compensation litigation.

    • Analyze substantive and procedural legal and factual issues, conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, independently develop and present defense strategies.

    • Independently prepare complex pleadings, depositions, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies.

    • Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice and other services to clients and claims customers on legal and factual issues.

    • Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures.

    • Provide for the prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases.

    • Prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, judicial and administrative hearings.

    • Research, draft and argue appellate briefs in reviewing courts.

    • Provide legal opinions to Managing Attorney, Assistant Managing Attorney, clients and claims customers.

    • Provide in-house training to junior associates and/or Claims partners.

    • Participate in Claims file reviews.

    • Attend continuing legal education seminars in order to maintain high level of professional expertise.

    Qualified Senior Staff Attorney candidates will possess the following requirements :

    • Juris Doctorate (JD) from accredited law school and license to practice in New York state.

    • Minimum of three (3) years of legal experience in New York state workers' compensation.

    • Strong legal research and writing skills.

    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize duties and time.

    • Strong communication, computer and technological skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required.

    • Positive-minded and collaborative team-player attitude.

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $123,360 - $185,040
