    Position summary

Quick turnaround in underwriting and structuring insurance programs is one of our top priorities. In doing this, we value working closely with our customers and their brokers to communicate the benefits of our products.

    Responsibilities include:

    Underwriting:

    • Build and leverage personal relationships with key customers that allow Y-Risk to obtain new accounts as well as retain and expand sales to existing accounts. Identify customers' needs and demonstrate how The Hartford's products and services can meet those needs.

    • Achieve the operating plan objectives via new business production through frequent interaction with assigned agents to significantly increase Y-Risk's penetration of the agent's existing books of business.

    • Review submissions and determine appetite to underwrite, underwrite and price new or renewal business, and present quotes to the agent.

    • Maintain knowledge of the Y-Risk direction and plan, including goals and objectives to achieve profit and growth.

    • Plan and prioritize work activities to achieve desired results within necessary time frames.

    • Engage in marketing efforts to increase Y-Risk's footprint in the industry, including some travel engagements.

    • Reviews, evaluates, quotes, binds & issues new business and assigned renewals

    • Works with support staff to execute all stages of a submission or policy

    • Applies any applicable underwriting guidelines

    • Properly documents customer file in accordance with regulatory and underwriting standards.

    • Researches and prepares any unique coverage forms

    • Monitors claim experience on written policies

    • Establishes & maintains quality submission pipeline

    • Properly responds to any mid-term broker inquiries

    Agency Management:

    • Maintains professional relationship provide excellent account management with assigned brokers

    • Determines & executes strategy to increase quality submissions

    • Works with brokers to positively influence individual submission/policy outcome

    • Retains 90%+ of renewal book

    • Travels as appropriate for book management & relationship building, (approximately once per month averaging 3-5 days per visit)

    Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of P&C carrier commercial lines experience is required; well versed in commercial auto a plus. Open to candidates with Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Sales, and related backgrounds

    • Sound decision-making and analytical skills.

    • Proven presentation abilities.

    • Stellar sales and negotiation skills.

    • Strong relationship building skills.

    • Ability to travel.

    • High energy self-starter, good decision maker with an entrepreneurial spirit.

    • Solid time management skills.

    • Computer savvy- experience with MS office suite.

    • Demonstrates leadership qualities, entrepreneurial spirit, and is achievement oriented.

    • This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in the office / in market 3 days a week in our Unionville, CT office. (Tuesday through Thursday).

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $76,000 - $144,600

    The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
