    The Hartford's Technology, Data, and Operations organization is excited to offer an immersive summer program designed to help students explore career paths in software engineering, data engineering, cybersecurity, AI, data analytics, data science and technology operations within the insurance industry.

    Interns will engage in meaningful work, mentorship, and experience with an emphasis on professional growth and development, and networking opportunities.

    This role is a hybrid position in Charlotte, NC. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future.

    • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and business stakeholders to understand business needs

    Qualifications

    • Undergraduate or graduate students expecting to graduate in May 2027 with a Bachelor's or Master's degree and a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

    • Desired majors include, but are not limited to: Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Informatics, Statistics, or other STEM-related and/or analytical majors.

    • Strong communication, analytical, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

    • Curiosity and willingness to explore new technologies and challenge assumptions

    • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems using structured, critical thinking and logical reasoning to develop data-driven solutions

    • Ethical Judgment & Integrity: Commitment to responsible data use and understanding of how decisions affect stakeholders and the business.

    • Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights that support business goals and improve performance.

    • Experience and exposure to some or all of the following:

    • Prompt Engineering: Crafting effective prompts for chatbots (e.g., ChatGPT, CoPilot)

    • Excel: e.g. creating pivot tables, formulas, data cleaning, charts, tables and graphs

    • SQL: Writing queries to extract, filter, and create datasets from relational databases.

    • Data Visualization Tools, such as Power BI or Tableau

    • Statistics: Understanding distributions, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, etc.

    • A/B Testing: Designing and analyzing experiments.

    • Data Wrangling: Cleaning and transforming raw data using tools like Pandas (Python) or (R).

    • Business Intelligence: Understanding Key Performance Indicators, dashboards, and storytelling with data.

    • Agile/Scrum Framework: Experience using Agile tools such as Rally, Jira, Trello is a plus.

    • Process Analysis: basic knowledge of frameworks such as Lean, Six Sigma, and process mapping tools such as Visio

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
