to learn and master various chassis systems - suspension/axle, tire/wheels, steering systems, brake system and controls, truck frames and more. Due to the critical nature of our parts/systems, we ensure the balance of Quality, Dependability, Reliability (QDR) with dynamic performance and appeal.
The current position is in a group that is developing chassis components and systems for body on frame vehicles produced in North America. Chassis design is a very broad field, and we provide the ability to learn and contribute to each area as your career progresses.
Reporting to the CDPF DP-F Sr Manager, the person in this role will support CDPF's objective to design and develop chassis components and systems to guarantee performance, safety, and competitiveness.
What you'll be doing
Take designs from platform concept all the way through to Vehicle line off, and beyond to maintain competitiveness and quality
Learn and apply new skills such as: Chassis systems Modeling, and experiencing of results, Chassis design considerations, and new materials and manufacturing methods (chassis uses everything from curing rubber to machining steel, to wiring)
Develop chassis systems using predictive tools to achieve vehicle dynamic targets and realize the actual performance through component/system/vehicle development
Develop suspension & other chassis components and systems that achieve our customers' desires for both on and off-road performance
Apply mechanical strength knowledge to chassis components to achieve strength/durability targets
Work with our partners - related R&D divisions, plants, suppliers, purchasing & TMC-chassis - to realize those component designs into quality production level parts
What you bring
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in an engineering discipline
3 or more years of automotive industry experience in mechanical part and systems design
Experience with design and release of drawings
Added bonus if you have
Experience with CATIA, FEA, and other Vehicle Simulation software
Experience with design and release of Toyota drawings or RDDPs
Hands on experience with chassis components (repairing or modifying)
Experience in root cause analysis and determining effective countermeasures
Professional knowledge of DRBFM (Design Review Based on Failure Mode)
