    Position summary

    various connected vehicle electrical system projects, such as V2X (V2H, V2L, V2G, V1G), charging products, and stationary battery systems.

    Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the engineer in this role develops new products for connected electrified vehicle systems and new energy solutions. This will ultimately support Toyota's goals to expand electrified powertrains, further reduce total carbon footprint, and achieve Toyota's 2050 Environmental Challenges.

    What you'll be doing

    • Research current and existing systems in the market, understanding North American (NA) trends.

    • Develop strategies for simulating, proof-of-concepting, and analyzing new business proposals with the aim of launching them as NA market products.

    • Evaluate system-level software using SILS/HILS.

    • Working with development engineers to understand the system for preparing evaluation plans.

    • Lead eval test plan, including facility requirement planning.

    • Lead actual system-level testing.

    • Working with component suppliers to confirm component performance.

    • Lead/support UL/SAE/ISO/IEEE certification testing.

    What you bring

    • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering or Equivalent Degree?

    • Experience in system development like stationary battery energy systems, V2X systems, and charging systems.

    • Experience designing test plans(test cases) and evaluation set up for stationary battery energy systems, V2X systems, and charging systems.

    • Knowledge of EV components/systems.

    • Experience in testing/validating the above systems.

    • Experience in hardware component development.

    • Flexibility for travel, up to 20%, and OT, up to 20%

    What you may bring

    • Master of Science in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)

    • Experience of component development working with suppliers

    • Experience and ability to program with MATLAB and Simulink

    • Ability to program with C, C++, Python

    • Experience with competitor investigation and development of electrified vehicles and various V2X systems

    • Japanese language proficiency.
