    Position summary

    orative relationship between Service Parts Operations (SPO) and Toyota Logistic Services (TLS) facility management, site team members, and union representatives. This is achieved through proactive engagement, clear interpretation of contracts and policies, effective conflict resolution, and open communication. The role serves as an advocate for both team members and management, facilitating mutual understanding and cooperation. By building strong partnerships with operations and management, this position supports a positive work environment, enhances team member engagement, and ensures consistent application of policies and contracts to uphold morale and organizational effectiveness.

    Reporting to the Labor Relations Manager, the person in this role will oversee daily human resources activities related to team member and labor relations.

    The successful candidate will have:

    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently

    • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

    This position will be based in Portland, Oregon. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Team Member Relations

    Lead conflict resolution efforts, address team member and management concerns, facilitate team member sensing activities and communicate findings with management to recommend countermeasures. Respond promptly/follow up to team member inquiries, manage grievance processes, prepare and review disciplinary documentation, coordinate the Team Member Experience Survey in partnership with Production, and ensure consistent policy and contract interpretation and application. Serve as a key liaison for union stewards and business agents. Identify gaps in processes, communications, etc., develop countermeasures and drive change. Review all grievance responses and disciplinary action letters. Draft higher-level responses and discipline letters (final step, final warning, termination) gaining concurrence when necessary.

    Compliance and Contract Administration

    Manage annual policy updates and refreshers, interpret and implement contract provisions, oversee grievance processes ensuring timely resolution, maintain HR filing systems, participate in labor contract negotiations, update Workday for team leader rotations, and administer programs such as Modified Duty, ADA accommodations, and leave of absence support in collaboration with the Leaves Analyst. Provide consultative support on restrictions and related reporting.

    Development

    Provide guidance and training to supervisors and managers on performance coaching, counseling, policy and contract education. Develop and deliver HR-related training programs including non-harassment and performance evaluation reviews.

    Investigations

    Lead and support investigations, including HRCM entries and TMNA investigations. Manage drug testing processes for reasonable cause, and administer exit surveys via Qualtrics.

    Ad Hoc Tasks

    Manage unemployment claims and reporting (Equifax), DMV driver's license checks, pension audits, wage progression updates in coordination with Compensation and Payroll, and retiree benefit premium payment processes. Hoshin and Kaizen projects as needed.

    What You Bring

    • Bachelor's degree (or higher), or equivalent professional work experience that is relevant to this position

    • Proven experience in employee relations

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

    • Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% of the time

    • A motor vehicle record that's acceptable by company standards, as this position requires driving

    • Ability to successfully obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) for the port

    Added Bonus If You Have

    • Bachelor's degree specifically in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or closely related field of study

    • Labor relations experience, including grievance processing, negotiations, and arbitrations

    • HR generalist experience

    • HR operations knowledge

    • SHRM or PHR certification

    • Project management skills

    • Experience in a production or manufacturing environment

    • Proficiency in Workday or similar HRIS

    The annual base salary range for this position is $91,000.00 - $147,900.00.Paid holidays and paid time off : The company offers 120 hours of vacation, 24 hours personal holiday, 13 company observed holidays, and 80 hours of accrued sick time.
