Reporting to the Sr. Manager, the person in this role will support the SEAM Department's mission to deliver high-quality, safe, and forward-thinking seating systems that enhance the mobility experience for Toyota customers.
What You'll Be Doing
As an Engineer in SEAM, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of vehicle seating systems. You'll collaborate across divisions, lead component development, and drive innovation from early concept through production and beyond.
Lead the development of seat and seat belt components from concept through production using Toyota's development methodologies
Execute or oversee CAD design work, collaborating with Supplier Engineers and CAD modelers
Manage project risks and ensure targets for schedule, performance, cost, and quality are met
Participate in cross-functional decision-making teams to align on technical direction
Identify and address gaps in current design processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
What You Bring
We're looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is ready to take ownership of meaningful engineering challenges.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering that provides a strong foundation in mechanical systems
1+ years of engineering design experience with seat systems or comparable assemblies (including co-op experience)
Hands-on experience with CAD systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Willingness and ability to travel to suppliers and North American manufacturing centers (NAMC)( up to 15%)
Ability to work up to 20% overtime as needed
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with suppliers, affiliates, and Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
5+ years of engineering design or manufacturing experience with seat or equivalent systems
2+ years of experience using Catia V5
2+ years of project management experience
Formal project management training or certification
