    Position summary

    data flow and digital solution development across TBMNC.

    Reporting to the IIoT Platform & Gemba Enablement manager , the person in this role will support the Manufacturing IT department's objective to enable team members to quickly solve problems by ensuring accurate, real-time data is available and seamlessly connected across manufacturing systems.

    This position is based in the Battery Plant, Liberty, NC. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within a commutable distance of this location.

    What you'll be doing

    • Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems supporting manufacturing processes.

    • Develop and optimize control logic using Mitsubishi GX Works or equivalent programming environments.

    • Identify business logic requirements and incorporate them into PLC data collection logic.

    • Work cross-functionally with TBMNC maintenance, engineering, and production teams to understand process and data requirements.

    • Integrate PLC systems with SCADA platforms such as Ignition for real-time monitoring and control.

    • Collaborate with IIoT solution teams to enable seamless data ingestion from PLCs into enterprise systems using protocols like Modbus, Ethernet/IP, MQTT and OPC UA.

    • Support commissioning and startup activities for new manufacturing equipment.

    • Analyze control system performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.

    • Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation including control schematics, logic diagrams, and operational procedures.

    • Mentor junior engineers and maintenance while promoting best practices for controls engineering within the team.

    What you bring

    • Bachelor's degree and/or 5 or more years of equivalent experience

    • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation with a focus on Mitsubishi PLC platforms (e.g., MELSEC series).

    • 2+ years of experience with Mitsubishi PLC programming tools such as GX Works2/3 or equivalent.

    • Proficiency in industrial communication protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, and DeviceNet.

    • 2+ years of experience integrating PLCs with SCADA/HMI systems.

    • Experience with industrial networking and troubleshooting techniques.

    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and controls in automotive or related industries.

    • Experience in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and P&IDs.

    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

    • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    Added bonus if you have

    • Experience with PLC platforms such as Toyopuc, or Allen Bradley.

    • Knowledge of IIoT architectures and protocols including MQTT and Sparkplug B.

    • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Jython) or software development (.NET/C#).

    • Background in machine vision, RFID, or barcode integration.

    • Experience supporting greenfield manufacturing facility startups.
