    Toyota's Privacy Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Sr. Manager, Privacy Program.

    The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the development, enhancement, and execution of the TMNA privacy program.

    Reporting to the General Manager of Compliance & Audit Mobility Transformation, the person in this role will support the Privacy department's objective to drive privacy strategy, foster enterprise-wide collaboration, and champion data protection and privacy best practices across the organization, balancing regulatory compliance with business enablement, ensuring personal information is managed securely and ethically while enabling organizational growth and innovation.

    What you'll be doing

    Strategic Privacy Program Leadership

    • Develop and continuously enhance a strategic and comprehensive privacy program that aligns with organizational goals and regulatory frameworks (e.g., CCPA, VDCPA, etc.).

    • Define, implement, and maintain privacy policies and processes that minimize risks, protect personal information, and support business objectives.

    • Ensure alignment between data, security, and privacy compliance programs through collaboration with cybersecurity, data governance, and other key stakeholders.

    Governance and Reporting

    • Strengthen privacy governance by partnering with senior leaders to oversee and kaizen the Executive Steering Committee and Privacy Liaisons Program. Lead the preparation of executive-level reporting on privacy program performance, risk areas, and mitigation strategies to inform and engage.

    Global Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Work across global regions to ensure the privacy program meets diverse legal, regulatory, and cultural requirements.

    • Establish strong partnerships with operational leaders, IT, Legal, and HR to integrate privacy into enterprise-wide initiatives and projects.

    Risk Assessment and Mitigation

    • Conduct and oversee privacy risk assessments, including records of processing activities, mitigation planning, and remediation.

    • Proactively identify emerging privacy risks and develop tailored solutions to safeguard the organization's data assets.

    • Establish and document ongoing compliance monitoring activities, coordinating with other compliance and operational assessment functions.

    Policy and Compliance Enforcement

    • Develop and maintain all privacy-related consents, forms, and notices to reflect current legal and organizational standards. Oversee compliance with business associate agreements and partner contracts to address all privacy concerns, responsibilities, and requirements effectively.

    • Serve as the primary contact for regulatory inquiries, audits, and compliance reviews, cooperating with external bodies such as the FTC, state regulators, and other legal entities.

    Incident and Breach Management

    • Lead breach response and notification processes in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including risk assessment, documentation, and mitigation activities.

    • Collaborate with Legal and HR to apply consistent sanctions for privacy violations, ensuring accountability at all levels of the organization.

    • Manage a robust process for investigating and resolving privacy complaints in a timely and efficient manner.

    Training, Advocacy, and Culture Building

    • Develop, implement, and deliver engaging privacy training programs to increase awareness and foster a culture of data protection and compliance.

    • Actively promote privacy best practices and advocate for ethical data handling across all business units.

    • Initiate, facilitate, and lead organization-wide campaigns to emphasize the importance of privacy as a strategic priority.

    Regulatory Knowledge and Industry Engagement

    • Stay ahead of emerging privacy regulations and industry trends, ensuring the organization remains compliant with global standards.

    • Represent the organization's privacy interests with external entities, including regulators, industry bodies, and advocacy groups, to shape policies and best practices.

    What you bring

    • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.

    • 8-10 years of experience leading privacy and compliance programs in a multinational organization, preferably within a highly regulated industry.

    • Knowledge of global privacy laws and frameworks, including GDPR, CCPA, and emerging regulations.

    • Demonstrated success in implementing privacy risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and compliance monitoring activities.

    • Exceptional ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate across cultures and geographies.

    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a focus on actionable insights.

    • CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) or CIPM (Certified Information Privacy Manager), or a commitment to obtain within 6 months.

    Added bonus if you have
