    Position summary

    day-to-day duties of the Toyota Motor North America East Coast communications team.

    Reporting to the East Coast Communications Manager, the person in this role will support the East Coast communications department's objective to grow a strong brand and PR presence to automotive, business, and lifestyle media throughout the East Coast. The successful candidate will have strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to work without oversight and on tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    What you'll be doing

    • Media relations, including considerable day-to-day phone and email contact with media, and considerable face-to-face contact with media at press conferences and special events.

    • Assisting in the creation, planning, and organization of public relations programs and media-oriented events, with the goal of creating positive publicity and outreach for the Toyota and Lexus brands in support of product launch and sustainment activities.

    • Working in conjunction with Toyota and Lexus marketing groups and senior executives to ensure strategic alignment between PR and marketing activities.

    • Development and execution of earned influencer strategies, events and programs targeted toward consumers, including producing detailed coverage and metrics reports for key internal stakeholders.

    • Managing multiple east coast press fleets, ensuring vehicle loans align with national Toyota and Lexus product targets.

    • Writing/editing press materials and product-related executive communications, including executive speeches, often under very tight deadlines.

    • Communicating regularly with regional PR affiliates as well as Toyota and Lexus field offices to ensure coordination of global resources in support of strategic initiatives.

    • Communicating with multiple business partners and suppliers on an ongoing basis.

    What you bring

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in communications, journalism, business, or other discipline applicable to PR field.

    • Solid public relations and/or journalism experience.

    • Basic understanding of the automotive industry with an added willingness to learn.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (applicants will be expected to provide writing samples, and a writing test may be required).

    • Extensive event planning and onsite execution experience.

    • Speech writing experience and confidence speaking on behalf of brands, often on camera.

    • Experience writing press releases in journalistic Associated Press (AP) style.

    • Strong, established media relationships.

    • Understanding of the influencer landscape and how brands are authentically integrated.

    • A strong understanding of the editorial cycle and awareness of what makes a topic newsworthy.

    • Experience working with agencies to develop and execute multi-faceted media and influencer programs.

    • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

    • This position requires driving. A motor vehicle record that's acceptable by company standards is required for this position.

    Added bonus if you have

    • Strong knowledge of automotive products, especially the Toyota and Lexus brands, and automotive industry-related issues highly preferred.

    • Experience in press fleet management.

    • Advanced degree in communications, journalism, business, or other discipline applicable to the PR field.

    The annual base salary range for this position is $97,900.00 - $159,100.00.Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan.
