    Position summary

    what''s next.

    This position will support outbound and inbound licensing as well as oversee the patent portfolio for Xperi''s product lines, a business within the company that generates $500 million of revenue annually. Specifically, the successful candidate will draft and negotiate highly-complex domestic and international licensing agreements, while considering various related legal, business and financial issues. This position will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company's patent portfolio to protect intellectual property and support strategic business objectives. This position will communicate with internal colleagues, including within the sales, legal, operations, engineering, and finance teams. The successful candidate will be an effective business partner who is able to provide practical advice, lead negotiations with customers, and close commercial deals. This position is based in Calabasas or San Jose. Title and compensation to be commensurate with experience.

    Qualifications:

    • Law degree from a top tier accredited law school and California bar license or ability to practice in California as a registered in-house counsel.

    • Minimum of 5+ years of experience at a top tier law firm and/or in-house technology company experience in drafting and negotiating technology and product licensing agreements is preferred .

    • Included in the experience above a minimum 3+ years of experience in patent prosecution or patent litigation.

    • Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.

    • Business-oriented lawyer with great attention to detail and ability to work well with cross-functional organizations.

    • Ability to think practically and be solution-oriented.

    • Ability to work independently and appropriately prioritize and handle multiple projects concurrently in an extremely fast-paced environment.

    • Capable of articulating complex issues succinctly and identifying and assessing risk efficiently.

    • Strong communication and analytical skills.

    • Sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

    The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is $135,800 - $180,000 plus bonus and benefits, and can vary if outside of this location. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
