    Katia is a data scientist and operations researcher with a total of 17 years of experience in the retail and airline industries. A problem solver and technical expert, she is the resident data guru in the Direct to Consumer division at Macy's Technology, where she has worked for 10 years.

    At Macy's Technology, Katia leads and mentors research & development in optimization, forecasting, machine learning and other techniques for a variety of use cases. She has a Ph.D. in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where her research was focused on Inventory Control and Supply Chain Management.

    Personal:  Married for 27 years, two daughters – Oldest getting Master’s from UNC-Chapel Hill, younger Athletic Training major at University of Georgia

    Interests:  Love to hike, play tennis and travel

    Career:  Started with Macy’s out of college in Executive Training program – positions in both Macy’s stores and buying offices. Returned to Macy’s in 1994 following MBA this time at Macy’s Technology.  Started as a business analyst and then accepted position as supervisor in 1996. Promoted to manager in 1998 and then Director since 2005.Over the last 24 years have been leading teams to deliver software solutions across Merchandising, Direct to Consumer, and Store Systems areas for Macy’s Technology.Over that time, have delivered leading software solutions for Financial Planning, Assortment Planning, Allocation and Omnichannel Analytics as well as more recently Store Fulfillment, RFID and Electronic Signs. Actively involved in Women At Macy’s, Women in Technology, and excited to be attending Grace Hopper conference representing Macy’s this September
