New York City Maternity Leave Comments
  • "NYC does not currently offer unionized employees paid parental leave. You must use accrued vacation/sick time. Official policies can be strict and very un-family friendly (no remote work officially permitted, alternate work schedule difficult, cannot work split shift, cannot easily switch between full-time and part-time employment). Some policies, however, are very family-friendly (35 hour work week, 12 days sick leave/yr which roll over and generous vacation leave)." - Anonymous
  • "I work for the CIty of NY so you use your accumulated leave for FMLA, so theres job security but not compensation." - Anonymous
  • "The overwhelming majority of NYC employees do not receive any paid maternity leave. Only approximately 20,000 of the hundreds of thousands NYC employees are eligible for paid leave :https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/01/nyregion/paid-parental-leave-except-for-most-who-need-it.html" - Anonymous
