Welcome to I Love My Job, the series where we hear from women who really love their jobs. In this edition, we sat down with Brenda Allamong, Senior Business Analyst for the Business Intelligence department at Segra.
Allamong began her 17-year journey with Segra as an ordering clerk, but she wasn’t in this role for long! “I think I lasted about six months in that position before they started pushing me up,” she recalls. And since then, she’s continued to elevate her career.
“My journey has been really interesting,” says Allamong. “I've seen the company grow in ways that most folks would not believe possible. It's been a wonderful experience for me growing my career as well as watching the company grow.” And, throughout it all, Allamong emphasizes how the people at Segra have truly made the company a great place to work.

We're actually in the midst of integrating with another company that we were merged with recently. It is a great opportunity for me and my department to look at the combined companies, produce the information and data that they need to look at, and analyze all of our day-to-day processes and where we can make improvements.
We look at the nuts and bolts of the business and put it out there for our leadership to review and then figure out where we need to improve. Being on the ground floor of this particular effort affords me the opportunity to not only meet new people and get new ideas, but to also help direct the company to greater insights that help improve our processes and profitability.
I love the culture here. The people are incredible. We respect and treat each other with fairness. We're open and we're professional, but we're also caring and dedicated. We want to do the very best job that we can, and that’s true for everybody who I've ever met here. We're always looking to see how we can improve not only the company, but ourselves. Segra provides us a lot of opportunities to grow our careers, and that includes growing ourselves personally. I love the culture — you couldn’t beat it.
Well, first and foremost, Segra offers outstanding health and retirement benefits. In today's world, that's really important. The cost of everything is outrageous, so they really help us out in that regard.
But, most importantly, they understand that my health and my family come first… I've had an interesting personal history, not only as a caregiver for my family, but I'm also a cancer survivor.
