Welcome to I Love My Job, the series where we hear from women who really love their jobs. In this edition, we sat down with Becca Lubbert, a Management Consulting Analyst at World Wide Technology (WWT).

Ever since joining WWT, Lubbert has found that everything she’d heard about the company’s great core values and culture turned out to be true! “People from leadership down are incredibly humble and passionate about what they do and value all voices at the table,” she tells us. “The people who I work with across various teams at WWT are grounded, scrappy, super-smart, and really value people first… In my time here at WWT, my voice is heard and valued by all of my team, which I'm incredibly grateful for.”

And, beyond that, Lubbert emphasizes how she’s felt supported by WWT personally. For instance, she’s able to maintain a hybrid work schedule that fits her needs. “I love the culture and people who I work with so much that I'm so excited on the days that I get to come in and work in-person,” she notes. “I also find it to be really special that I get to work somewhere where my personal values align with the organization at large… It has made me not just a better employee, but the culture and core values of WWT have made me a better person and member of my community in my personal life as well.”

In the video below, Lubbert shares more about why she loves working at WWT. We also provide lightly edited highlights from the video discussion in the following article.

Can you tell us a little bit about your career journey and role at WWT?

Today, I'm celebrating my one-year anniversary at World Wide Technology! I work in the downtown Denver office, overlooking a stunning view of the Rockies. I'm a little biased, but I think I am in the best WWT office, and I'm so excited about where I get to live and work.

As for my work at WWT, the management consulting practice as a whole has a wide array of solution offerings (like cloud services and security services), analytics, and AI consulting. Since joining WWT, I have worked primarily on enterprise architecture offerings and supporting the high-level strategy and design and implementation of data center builds for client organizations.

What do you find most exciting about your work at WWT?

In my role, I get to be a part of not just building strategy and offering high-level solutions to clients, but I also get to be a part of delivering very real business outcomes for customers. I find it so exciting to collaborate with a business, build vision, drive decision-making for their data architecture future, and then actually be a part of delivering those solutions and seeing those data centers built with gear that's configured and shipped by WWT. We really deliver these transformative end-to-end solutions, not just ideas or concepts, to organizations that we work with, which is really rewarding and cool to be a part of.

What is your favorite thing about WWT?

There’s so much that I love about WWT, so it's hard to nail down a favorite thing.

One thing that feels pretty special about WWT is this contagious desire to learn and improve. I see this from all levels of people that I work with. No one knows it all, but people are eager to be better and to do things with excellence. No one is stagnant and going through the motions. There's definitely a sense of excitement to expand, be innovative, and grow, which has really contributed to my personal growth in the tech industry throughout my time here at WWT.

How does WWT support you?

I feel so supported by WWT because I have people who are much further along in their career than I am who are in my corner, rooting for me, and helping me grow. In my year here, I have a laundry list of people who really believe in me, hold me to high expectations, and are there to support me.

I am so grateful to be at a company where people are helping me [...] really grow my skills and be the best consultant that I can be. WWT has also given me such great access to tools for growing some of those hard skills and people to guide me. So, I feel confident that in a year from today, my consulting tool set will be even more full of skills to help deliver robust outcomes to clients.

What advice do you have for other women looking to work at WWT?

My advice for women looking to work at WWT or in the tech industry as a whole is, first of all, know your worth and carry it well. There is a difference between being prideful versus being confident and, as a woman in the tech industry, you want to find that sweet spot of knowing your stuff while also walking with a humble confidence.

And, even if you don't have experience in the tech industry, don't be afraid to apply for jobs that feel like a reach. Be ready to learn and grow to do that job well, but, honestly, having a drive and willingness to learn are so much more important than what hard skills you currently possess.

So, don't be afraid to do your homework and really challenge yourself because you are capable of more than you think you are.
