Welcome to I Love My Job, the series where we hear from women who really love their jobs. In this edition, we sat down with Susan Bagley, Senior Director of Client Services at Lowe’s Media Network.
Susan joined Lowe’s about three and a half years ago, and her storied career journey with the company has brought her to where she is today: leading sales and management teams in supporting vendor partners’ advertisement initiatives. It’s thanks to her hard work, her team’s extensive cross-functional collaboration, and the support of Lowe’s leadership that she’s had the opportunity to quickly grow in her career and see the impact that her work has had on a very broad scale.
“Lowe's culture has helped me grow and innovate by encouraging an entrepreneurial mindset to do new things each and every day,” she tells Fairygodboss. “[Our] leadership is forward-thinking and encourages you [to] challenge the status quo and continue to provide the very best solutions … I love the ability to build at scale, grow my team, and grow myself personally and professionally.”
In the video below, Susan shares more about her career journey at Lowe’s, her work in setting up Lowe’s Media Network, and the company’s culture of innovation. We also provide lightly edited highlights from the video discussion in the following article.
I joined Lowe's a little over three and a half years ago as the Director of Sales for the Lowe's Media Network, supporting the home décor division and leading a group of sellers and account managers in supporting advertising for our vendor partners.
In 2024, I was promoted to lead the entire Client Services team, supporting all three major merchandising divisions at Lowe's. Now, I lead a full team of sales and account management, selling advertising directly to our vendor partners.
Setting up and standing up Lowe's Media Network has been a really important career milestone for me. Having a background in media sales and working in retail, I did not think I would get the unique opportunity to start an entrepreneurial business within a Fortune 500 company. This was on my bucket list to do for a long time, and not only did we build the team from the ground up in terms of hiring execution and end-to-end modeling, but we've also grown in team size and promotions, [and were] fully integrated into the rest of the organization in just about three years.
That's something I'm incredibly proud of … and it's something that I've strived to achieve both personally and professionally for a very long time. I can't wait to see what we accomplish next.
Culturally, Lowe’s has really helped me innovate both personally and in business. Something I appreciate about Lowe's is that an entrepreneurial mindset is encouraged, and that's really important in what I do and in what my team does, which is finding new solutions to better serve our vendor partners.
I also think Lowe's really encourages innovation by providing associates, really at all levels, with the ability to learn different areas of the business. And that might be through stretch projects, or that might be through different learning and education opportunities. Lowe's is consistently pushing cultural integration in everything that we do, and innovation is really at the center of our core beliefs.
My favorite thing about Lowe's is the true cross-functional collaboration and partnership with many departments across the business—and seeing the impact that we can have within my team at a very broad scale.
I also love the ability to grow personally and professionally, and to build and scale my team and support their career development.
Lowe's supports me by providing extremely comprehensive benefits—everything from healthcare to mental health services to financial benefits.
Lowe's also provides excellent resources through mentorship and leadership support circles so that you can continue to grow yourself personally and professionally.
I would tell other women that, if you're looking for career advancement, a wider skillset, upward mobility, and an executive leadership team that is over 40% female—as well as supportive leadership and flexibility—Lowe's is a great place for you to grow your career.
