Welcome to I Love My Job, the series where we hear from women who really love their jobs. In this edition, we sat down with Krista Fultz, the Director of Learning and Talent Development at Donnelley Financial Solutions (DFIN).

Fultz’s four-year career at DFIN began in October 2019 when she joined the company as a Manager of Learning and Leadership Development. After joining, she quickly realized how DFIN supports and provides employees with plentiful opportunities to make an impact and grow within the organization.

“There was such an opportunity to build and establish good practices around leadership development,” she recalls. “And that hasn't changed since joining. We're constantly given opportunities to introduce new programming, introduce new technology, and also experiment with new ways of working. AI and automation are becoming huge across every industry and every organization, and we have the opportunities to leverage those tools to make a better user and learner experience.”

Thanks, in part, to this supportive and empowering environment, Fultz was recently promoted to her current director role, in which she is responsible for enterprise learning and leadership development across DFIN. Reflecting on her journey, Fultz emphasizes how important it is that “the opportunity to grow and make an impact is here at DFIN, and it's ready for anyone wanting to grow their career.”

In the video below, Fultz shares more about why she loves working at DFIN. We also provide lightly edited highlights from the video discussion in the following article.

What do you find most exciting about your work at DFIN?

The most exciting thing about my work here at DFIN is developing leaders to unlock not only their full potential, but also their team's full potential. Ultimately, this enables us to be successful as an organization while supporting someone's career growth.

The work we do within talent development is really rewarding. It’s a reinforcing cycle: you see it happen for one leader, then they enable their direct report to develop, grow, and reach their own potential.

How would you describe the culture at DFIN?

I would describe our culture as one of trust and leadership. I am incredibly grateful to our leaders for consistently demonstrating it and really walking the talk. For example, we are a highly cross-functional organization, where we rely on other teams to partner and get work done, which requires collaboration.

Sometimes working in teams can almost feel like a hindrance to just getting your job done, but I haven't found that here at DFIN. I regularly reach out to leaders and other peers and teams across the organization for different projects or initiatives, and they're consistently willing to help. I’ve never felt any barriers or roadblocks to success. I really feel that this is a result of the leaders at the top and what they model and demonstrate for us.

What is your favorite thing about DFIN?

We listen to our people and employees. When we reached out to our employee base and asked if they’d prefer remote work or hybrid, our leaders listened. We are seeing that teams are  more productive when empowering them with the trust and respect to get work done remotely while providing opportunities for connection in between.

More than anything, just listening or being willing to lean into those uncomfortable conversations is what I appreciate most.

What advice would you give to other women looking to work at DFIN?

Visit our website and look at the open roles on LinkedIn. We are always hiring, and DFIN really is a place where you can bring your full self to work and make an impact. There's nothing employees want more these days than being able to do their job, do it well, and be recognized and rewarded for it. And you'll find that here at DFIN.
