I see several job postings that show over 100 applicants have applied to the job.

Make it a knock out question. Have a question that asks them with a drop down of their citizenship and work status. Don't give them a "yes-no" they can lie on, have someone in data analysis help write questions where the, answers can be filtered. One of my jobs I posted required a CPA. Not only did we post a "yes-no', but also asked state, license number and expiration date. Then we could eliminate those from even applying who didn't provide credentials, their "no" or blanks would then prevent them from hitting "submit".

I was born in the US and no way in hell would i put my license number on an application. That's the kind of info you don't give until someone has made a conditional offer and is ready to do a background check.

CPA LICENSE. Read my reply again. It's public info to ask a CPA their credentials. Just like real estate licenses
