        • Trader Joe's does not pay maternity or paternity leave. This is paid through the state of California (or one of two other states that offer PFL, Paid Family Leave.) Trader Joe's crew members are able to take 6 weeks of disability leave after giving birth(also paid through the state) and can submit for 6 weeks off for PFL. Fathers can submit for 6 weeks off after the birth of their child to take PFL also(again, paid through the state, not through Trader Joe's).

                • Qualifying for health insurance is tricky if you don’t work at least 40 hours a week consistently. If you work less, then you must somehow makeup the hours. If you were part time for a while then want to go full time, you are now in “the hole” with benefits and “owe” back hours before you will qualify for insurance. This could take months. It can make it very difficult to get the insurance because if this structure.
