Our mission at Ginkgo Bioworks is to make biology easier to engineer. In order to be looked to as the premier platform for synthetic biology and engineering organisms, we are committed to creating a team of engineers as diverse as the problems we are looking to solve.
Ginkgo strives to be a place where those who identify as womxn both launch and evolve their careers. With our benefits and policies, professional development opportunities, recruitment initiatives, and other opportunities, we aim to attract top womxn talent and to continually foster their growth at Ginkgo.
Personal time, benefits, and wellness: Our unlimited time off policy encourages our team members to work toward our ambitious goals, and to take the time they need for vacation, health, and family along the way. Our caregiver initiatives provide things like wellness rooms with specific snacks for lactation needs, templates for leave coverage that help with thoughtful planning for responsibility distribution, and the flexibility to discuss on-ramping with your team for your return to work. In addition, we offer free COVID testing onsite at Ginkgo to provide for the safety of our team members.
Talent development: Through initiatives in professional coaching, skill building workshops, and financial support to attend industry-leading networking and conference events, we aim to bolster the many facets of leadership development available to our womxn team members. As examples, we offer an in-house training series in project management, and we maintain active partnerships with AceUp, which provides leadership coaching and one-on-one mentorship for managers.
Recruitment initiatives: We aim to build the best team of GMO engineers the world has ever seen! There’s a serious lack of diversity in our industry, and our goal is to help drive change by growing our team to include a diverse set of voices who inform the future of biology. To do so, we share our open positions on sites like Fairygodboss and the Association for Women in Science (AWIS), to achieve our goal of substantially increasing the number of underrepresented genders among new hires. In addition, we recently started a career fair initiative to make more connections with underrepresented students in STEM, Business, and other fields across the U.S.
Location opportunities: Through our home location in the Innovation Design Building in the up-and-coming Seaport district of Boston, we offer free shuttle service to two major hubs of public transit in the city, in addition to permanent food truck-style meal options, and seasonal social events.
Ginkgo Bioworks is rapidly expanding, nearly doubling our company size within the past year. Although our foundation is in biology, we have many opportunities across different fields. We encourage you to take a look at our profile and our current openings, and to join the team that will have a direct impact on the future of biology.
