There are a ton of women working here, and I'm sure most have a good experience. It was difficult in my department to take days off for child care without being made to feel like you were abusing the system. It was also frowned upon to raise your hand for opportunities or new learning experiences. I often felt like y requests to take on more and grow were not taken seriously. I would like to add, though, that while I did experience this in my department, HR was wonderful at hearing my concerns and helping me move forward into a different position. They understood the importance of confidentiality and were extremely professional.
If you're a mother, this is a tough place to work. Upper management is mostly all white male and less understanding about needing flex time for family. Women are expected to work long & hard - something that would be much easier if they were more lenient on working remotely when needed. Also, there is a TON of change going on and hasn't had a reputation for being stable - so avoid if you're looking for stability. Lastly, there is a new sales and edit structure - but the inner-workings haven't been adjusted yet so getting anything accomplished in a timely, strategic manner for clients has been absolutely painful.
A great company in many ways, but very political. If you like to play that game, and are good at it, you can go far. Once my boss (male) asked me to go with him to a meeting that I had never gone to before. In fact, one of my colleagues usually did. I asked why the colleague wasn't going and he said not to worry about it. He introduced me at the meeting as the colleague's replacement. Colleague got laid off soon after. Again, lots of opportunity and good people, but some game playing comes with the territory.
