October 2018

While women serve in management positions, they are kept at mid-level. Companywide, a large majority of senior positions are filled by males - only a few females in these roles. In this way, this insurance broker still operates as an ole boy's club. Women in various roles are not earning a commensurate compensation. Poor overall operations, leadership, oversight and due diligence from the corporate office. Corporate sets unrealistic revenue projections and when those aren't met, local offices undergo major reductions in force. Corporate doesn't appoint nor promote highly capable leaders to the local offices. Mission is to acquire small insurance brokerage shops to grow quickly without regard for long-term financial viability of the local office and its employees - female and male.

November 2015

Joy Cone is extremely flexible and understanding of the needs of working mothers. My supervisors have worked with me throughout two pregnancies and maternity leaves, and have given me flexibility above and beyond what I expected. While I do not have paid maternity leave, the flexibility that I am given is very, very valuable. This truly is a family-friendly company and a great place to work.
