"Akamai would be improved by a zero tolerance policy on sexual harassment and reviewing the feedback it gives to women aiming at leadership roles. There can be markers in these areas that show an unconscious bias.
Also - in terms of leadership culture - they do a lot to train the front lines of management - while spending less effort working on clarifying the duties of upper level leaders and their organizations - so as a woman IC and middle manager - you'll rise, but it's not common to hit this gap in the middle where you don't seem to "feel" like a manager to that upper tier, and so you're not going to go anywhere in your career."

"This was by far the most flexible place I have worked in terms of time off - there ARE limits on the amount of leave you can take, but it's highly permissive and it really does work. Also Akamai allowed "Akamai Anywhere" - permanent remote work - for certain roles (not all of them - not developers). We'll see how that translates in the future."

"It can be a great place to work depending on your team, and the culture is meant to be inclusive and open. Like many places, there may be shortcomings there, but I do feel there are efforts being made to promote women and people of color."
