Be direct and assertive. Decisions change on a whim and may not always be well-communicated, so don't be afraid to ask for clarification or confirmation.

There's great flexibility among the management team, but a lot of guilt and shame for the rest of the team when it comes to wanting flexibility in schedule, etc.

Women and men are treated as complete equals and are promoted based on skill and experience. There are women in leadership positions and the company culture is very welcoming and inclusive.

The gender gap here is closer than at smaller companies in this industry but there is still plenty of room to improve.

June 2016

I suppose it depends on your managers and store location, but the girls were treated poorly at the store and it was even female dominated in management. Girls were told they required to wear heels during peak hours (12pm-6pm) and some were sent home for not wearing enough makeup. Also, lots of management cattiness and unprofessionalism.

You have the opportunity to go as far as you want in you're development. They are very willing to give you the tools you need to grow. There is definitely an old boys club feel and a bit of a click.

No opportunity to move up or join leadership. Majority of employees are female but overwhelming majority of leadership is male. American company that tries to operate like its Japanese parent company. Women expected to be subservient.

November 2015

The company proudly states values as trust and visionary spirit, which in the time I have been working here I would have no reason to dispute. However coming back after maternity leave I was disappointed with the lack of forward thinking in terms of working arrangements. The company was not open to discussing flexible working hours or adhoc working from home to help manage the new work life balance. I think a company of this size and global reach should at least be open to the conversation.
