September 2017

Like most large employers, there is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to how many women are in leadership positions.

They provide a quiet room for nursing moms! There are a good amount of female leadership as well in the company.

Depending on the manager you worked for, I was lucky that my manager allows me to change to 32 hour work week and some work at home time. However, this is not happening across the board.

November 2016

Good company but still slow on diversity with women. Actually slower to accept others that don't fit a Midwest mold.

No paid leave in the United States. Although they are a Canadian company they do not offer this benefit for women.

Again, if you're not willing to fight (mostly bigoted customer, and the occasional technician) this isn't the job for you. You don't have to know alot about cars to start as SHC has a wonderful training program. It takes a certain skill in sales as well. There isn't a lot of communication between corporate and the store, so at times, it can be frustrating trying to explain things to customers that you don't fully understand yourself. I do really enjoy this job, but the company itself could be better.

January 2016

It's the Aerospace Industry-- I get to work on some pretty cool projects but the company is very slow to change its ingrained culture and white-male-engineer insider network. On the plus side, I've seen senior leadership kick off serious initiatives to foster women leadership; on the minus, I've seen those initiatives die as senior leaders move on.
