Avalara

"There is a lot of opportunity here at Avalara. We have numerous ERGs including our Women of Avalara. This is a very active group that continuously advocates for women and women's issues. We are currently running a 6 month mentoring program with members of the group to develop several goals (personal and professional), plan how to achieve them, and report on progress. Members were able to volunteer as mentors or request to be a mentee. Many groups were formed with 2 mentors and up to 4 mentees. It has been a great process and we are all learning from each other. We are nearing the end of this program and everyone in our group has shown growth and learned new skills and ways of thinking about themselves and how to progress towards their goals and when to evaluate their plan or goal for changes. We also have a lot of culture building and team building activities as well as just plain fun things sponsored by Avalara. I have participated in crafting sessions, LGTBQ+ history and how people had to work around/hide within societal norms while learning to mix a cocktail to celebrate progress, cooking events, and more. There are regular yoga sessions hosted by a person in our India office every week. Avalara is also working on its DEI constantly to always be better. "
