"Bain has created "Women @ Bain" a team which hosts events for women to experience share on their professional careers and how they've handled climbing the corporate ladder, having families, taking time off, adjusting hours, etc. It's amazing to hear how many women have done this and interesting to hear the tactics they've done to do so. "Once you have joined Bain and become a valued employee, Bain takes care of you. They're willing to work with each individual (male or female) to ensure the job fits their lifestyle as much as possible. While there are standard days and hours, managers tend to be flexible about what those hours are, working from home, etc. as long as the work is done. This is very dependent on the type of work you do, but the mindset of leadership staff is similar."

"Bain is an awesome place to work with much opportunity to grow in the direction you are interested in. If your qualifications and your desire to learn are there, the company is open and supports your development choices. "

"Though Bain has very open dialogue about how to support women and has great policies in place, there is still a lack of women in upper management and it's hard to get them there and to get them to stay due to the lifestyle demands of the client service consulting industry. You have to make a lot of trade offs if you want to stay, even if you take advantage of their flexible working program, etc. Many younger employees who are male have children and stay at home wives and are more able to fully devote themselves, which encourages some women to leave the company."

"Actual policies in place are great (super long maternity leave, part time work programs) but having a life outside of work or a child while under the Manager level is near impossible and very rare. The lifestyle itself tends to be harder on women than men (more stuff to take while traveling! etc.)."
