The company has antiquated policies that prevent promotions for high performers. Promotion decisions must be approved by management chains in different states, so your network must be strong enough to reach far and wide across the US.

Different organizations have virtual-day policies adding greater flexibility during the week. Flexing is also an option with management approval.

  • Recommend to Women?

Maybe. Women within the company look out for each other. I would recommend this company to other women with assertive personalities.

I would tell her if she is ambitious it is not the place for her. A less competent, less educated male will always be promoted over her. There are exceptions. The current CEO is a woman, but she was the second choice. The fist choice was a male who was ousted because he was having a affair with someone reporting to him. He was the heir-apparent until that was discovered.

Flexibility is usually a function of your particular manager. For the most part they are inflexible but 2 of the 7 managers I had there were very good.

Big company with chance for exposure to many functional areas, but limited women hires and even less advancement (especially outside the 'pink collar ghettos')

Good mat/pat leave policy. However, advancement can be impacted by interrupted career path (unofficially).

Maybe. Can be a good stepping stone in the industry. Best not to stay too long - opportunities tend to decline over time.

Many managers will actively not help you with solving personality issues, many engineers are very unfriendly toward women.

  • Took Maternity Leave Here? (Weeks)

    12 paid / 7 unpaid

Fully paid maternity leave is possible, but you will have to supplement sick and vacation time to make up the difference in pay given by the state. It is possible to have 12 weeks of fully paid leave or more, if you have accrued enough time off. The company allows up to 6 months of leave.

  • Are Women and Men Treated Equally?

  • Flexibility of the employer

    1 2 3 4 5

Flexibility greatly depends on the head of your department or direct manager. Some are given the opportunity, while others are not, which creates resentment in the workplace. HR refuses to create a formal policy on the matter. In general, flexibility is generally frowned upon.

  • Recommend to Women?

Maybe. Lots of opportunity for learning and being involved in amazing projects. For a lot of people, it's best as a jumping-off point, or to come to with established positioning. Not ideal for those who stay a long time as there's a tendency for us to be passed over. The issues are not overt, they are more subtly endemic.
