"Many women are in leadership positions at BMS. Many women with promise are groomed for leadership positions by both male and female directors. There is both maternity leave and paternity leave, and women tend to come back after maternity leave instead of deciding to stay home. Pay and bonuses are good. That said, there is always a large amount of work to be done, leading to very packed days or long hours or both. Managers tend to be very flexible to allow for family commitments, but still expect the work to get done."

The work environment is very family-friendly, flexible hours, daycare, etc. That being said, it is engineering, so expect a male-dominated environment. One weird impact of being an engineering company is that the women scientists all dress frumpy and conservative, due to strict lab-safety policies, but the women administrators can wear skirts, pumps, and sleeveless tops."

The company is trying hard to figure out why there are fewer women in senior ranks, so there is openness to change and improvement. We always rank well in work/life balance rankings and working mother listings. The on site day care here is equalled by none. I was helped by both of those earlier in my career. It gets harder, the higher you get in the company."
