If you're a rock star in your area of expertise and not going to be a consultant, you won't be valued here. Promotions are marketed are "lateral moves" and compensation is below market.

Maybe. Likely better than other places but policies are only the first step. They need real HR who has enough power to address and act on policies.

BCG is extremely supportive of all of it's employees...including women. They treat individuals as individuals regardless of gender, race, etc.

BCG is a great place to work for women. The maternity leave is generous and they do work to allow for flexibility with the working hours.

It's a great place to work. Everyone genuinely care about your well-being - both, personally and professionally, and will try to help you in any way possible to ensure you succeed and have all the tools and resources you need to excel at whatever you do.

Understand what team you are joining, what the specific expectations are from that segment of the business and where you are likely to have flexibility and autonomy within that (and where you won't). Also note that who you work for is important in addition to what you do - there is a strong culture of sponsorship here but that means you have to find a sponsor to be successful.

Flexibility is great on the internal management side, especially as you get more senior. It can also be pretty good for consulting staff at senior levels if people ask for it and work hard to arrange it.

  • Took Maternity Leave Here? (Weeks)

    12 paid / 3 unpaid

Since I took leave (twice) we have gone to 16 weeks paid (8 disability, 8 parental leave) for women and 8 weeks paid for men. I think it's a great benefit!

Better align internal senior-level management roles (which especially appeal to those with families) with true leadership and respect within the firm.

  • Recommend to Women?

Maybe. Great people work here and the teams and energy are incredible, not to mention the benefits. Having a strong sense of your own priorities and boundaries is important to maintaining work life balance within the intense demands of client service and senior internal roles.

BCG is an excellent employer and would recommend it to all women that are dedicated to their careers and enjoy a truly collaborative and consensus driven environment. You make your own career, so don't expect to be spoon fed here. Everyone is treated fairly and as an individual...very respectful.
