"Culture of hierarchy and meritocracy privileges white men. While there are a few isolated women in leadership positions, there’s no emphasis on retaining and developing women. "

"The culture claims to be a "meritocracy" but rewards a narrow and specific means of engagement (largely arguing in front of a large audience) that men tend to be much more comfortable engaging in. There are a few women in high profile leadership positions but lower level administrative roles are almost entirely held by women and higher profile management roles held almost entirely by men. Additionally there's a hard partying culture in some departments that encourages poor behavior by men in particular (and it takes many strikes, some egregious. before this behavior is fully addressed)."
