"Unless you are in sales or the business office, women just aren’t treated equally by the rest of the team. Production is all male and as a whole do not make any woman feel welcome. You are judged harder than your coworkers and training and advancement are nonexistent. The men get away with things that no woman could even think about messing up on since you’re constantly being “observed”. "

"I've been with CarMax HQ for 10 years and have had the opportunity to work in many different areas. I've seen a shift over that time from seeing women in what might be considered female-centric roles such as HR and many admin/clerical positions to seeing more women in IT, engineering, and other strategic positions. If you're an outsider coming in, negotiate well at the start because monetary compensation takes a hit to balance out other benefits and work/life balance. I'd say we're pretty flexible when it comes to family and individual needs, but there are always nuances when it comes to specific managers and areas of the business."

"The dynamic has shifted over time and we continue to need more strong female leaders. There is a lot of promotion from within so it helps to find a mentor and have candid career conversations with your manager."
