Be upfront about your needs as early as possible to make sure you come to an arrangement that works for you and the company. This seems to be a better place to work if you've already had your children (and don't need parental leave), or if you don't plan on having kids.

The employer needs to provide paid parental leave options. About 80% of the office is women, and most are of child-bearing age. I think it should be a priority for the company and owner.

I honestly don't know. The culture there, quite literally, is rape-culture. Can one thing change rape-culture?

October 2015

This is my 8th year working here in engineering, and I'm about to have my second kid, now post-tenure. The policies around family leave are aligned with other big-10 schools, but that does not mean they are good. However, Purdue is an institutional member of the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity, and that can help you manage your worklife to be more sustainable.

July 2015

Management consulting, in general, is a boys club. A woman has to be able to walk into a room and take control. Of course, at that point you will be called a bitch behind your back, but at least you can hold your head up high. In Advisory Services, at senior levels, travel to multiple client sites weekly is brutal, at the same time business development and professional development activities are expected. If you have children, hire a nanny...enough said.

April 2015

Everyone is super supportive, there are a lot of great people here. It just takes time to get to know them so don't feel intimidated at first. And if you have a good idea, speak up. I think they genuinely want to create a workplace where people feel valued.
