Most people are nice but beware on the excess workload they add on. Its becomes a challenge to have a healthy work/life balance.

A conservative engineering firm, women are still treated like secretaries.

I work in administration, and this is just like every other higher education institution I've worked for. I don't feel that women and men are treated differently, and there are lots of women in senior and management roles.

December 2015

The President of the division is a woman. When I spoke to a male mentor about the challenges around being female at the company, he pointed to the president and said, "How can there be a problem when the president is a woman?" Apparently the fact that only 10% of the President's direct reports were women was lost on him. And women are represented even less in management positions lower in the organization.

There are a lot of women working here but predominantly in associate attorney roles. Partnership is male-dominated and not diverse. Those who make partner also have stay-at-home spouses raising their children, which makes the culture of the firm very unmindful / insensitive to work-life balance. The "parental leave" is generous: 8 weeks short term disability / 8 weeks parental leave / you can add 1-5 weeks of vacation; Many women do a combination of vacation & unpaid time with their leave to take a full 6 months off. There are part-time and flex-time options but due to the 24/7 nature of the firm/culture, it's very difficult to truly work "part-time."

August 2015

I've worked here for three years. There are many women in senior roles throughout the organization. People are so nice. In general, treatment is fair and policies are flexible for women with families even though hours are long. Also most male directors and above have stay-at-home spouses, and average paternity leave is 1-2 days. If you are not a straight married woman, strong caution. While you will find a great community of associate-level unmarried women, higherups may view you as "less mature" and will definitely question your commitment to the organization and living in Central PA. For LGBT women, just be aware, there are very, very few role models within the organization.

Very small company. Very few employees (even male employees) have children or significant others, so there is little empathy or understanding of family situations.
