Great benefits and discounts, not conducive to women with young children at home.

As a sales associate, you're commission only. This provides a wonderful opportunity for you to make a very competitive salary. Alternatively, your 12pm-9pm work day could easily turn into 12 hours if a client comes in late, or during your lunch hour. You need to make the sale for your commission, and are required to make your daily sales quota. It's not a position very conducive to women with young children.

  • Recommend to Women?

Maybe. I would not recommend to women raising younger children due to the inconsistent hours and expectations.

This culture is 70's/80's American core culture. Women are expected to be seen. not heard, no A type women will succeed here. The definition of good ole boy network. The executives still call women "girls" regularly.

It really depends on the department, some essential positions have very strict hours, but non-customer-facing positions generally have more flexibility.

Maybe. Depending on the department/manager, there is a good flex time policy, Certain executives get a little flirty but back off if you don't reciprocate. Be prepared to deal with middle school level back-stabbing cattiness.

If you or a child gets sick, you will be written up. When my Mom died, I was written up for taking the approved funeral leave. Not a good employer.

Although this is typically a business dominated by men, UTA is a female-friendly place to work. If you work hard, you can make your own hours as you make your way up the latter.

January 2016

A large number of women overall, and an unusual number of working moms on the faculty makes for a relatively supportive environment for women within academia. One caveat: there are fewer women faculty members, and in particular working moms, among the senior faculty. But there is hope for this to change within the next few years (e.g. a large number of women who should receive tenure in the next 3 or so years).
