Although drive, performance and skills are recognized and rewarded, promotions are not consistently given to those who are the most deserving. Work is often done by those at lower pay grades and the credit and rewards are given to those at higher levels of leadership. Documentation of all work, conversations and interations are often imperative in order to safeguard ones position.

Inconsistent with practices bases on leadership and although flexibility exists, favoritism and nepotism also exist throughout the organization, creating an unfavorable culture.

  • One Thing Employer Could Improve

Treat employees fairly and consistently without biases, neglect of policy and procedure and failure to provide due process.

It is uncommon to be able to work from home or have flex hours. It is possible, but it is not well received by leadership when it does happen and absolutely is not something that can be done regularly.

As a machine operator, it took a lot longer to be taken seriously as an operator than it would have taken a man. I felt I had to "prove" myself.

Nothing much to tell. Typical experience in the banking industry in that most leadership positions are held by men.

A lot of flexibility in terms of working from home and benefits as a part of IAC, but there is a real 'bro' culture here. Has the sense of a boys club.

It's a predominantly male world. However, slight progress is being made, to their benefit. Ministry is not an easy universe for female leaders.

July 2015

I worked many years at this company. While my career there started out very well with quick advancement and opportunity to travel, the ongoing poor performance and board decisions to split up and sell the company have taken their toll. Morale is terrible. The management is male-dominated. They lay off a ton of people without any regards to performance. It's all about cost-cutting and in my view, they want to take out older workers in favor of new, far cheaper workers. The good thing about the company is that if you live in the Chicago suburbs, the work hours aren't insane--generally 40-50 hours per week. They are flexible, I was able to work from home as much as needed. A lot of people work virtually. It's good global experience as they're in many countries. If you live in the city of Chicago, they have an office there but it's hard to get into. You'll likely end up needing to commute to Schaumburg which is a soul-sucking commute.
